As you will see, we have taken the guess work out of our countertop fabrication. We use sophisticated techniques and equipment to provide you with a finished product that will add life to your home. Join us on a journey as we take you through our famous fabrication.

Process of Countertop Fabrication at Arch City Granite

Before you ever get into the countertop fabrication, the very first thing we start with is a good product. Our stone experts inspect the full slabs of stone and make certain it is free of defects. If there are any cracks, or scratches or blemishes or faults, the granite or marble is not added to our inventory. If the defects are within manageable proportions, the area of defects is clearly marked, so that the defective portion is avoided during cutting. We spend a lot of time to ensure our stone slabs are first class.

The next step in stone countertop fabrication is coming to your home and getting the measurements of your counter space. Have you ever heard the saying, “measure twice cut once”? This saying became part of the language because of human errors. If the measurements are wrong, then everything that follows after will be wrong.

When creating countertops, we have to measure where your sink is going to be, where the edges will line up, and the length and width of the countertop. There is a lot that can go wrong. Since we aware of the pitfalls when measuring, we have removed the tendency for human error. We send one of our skilled technicians to your home. He brings a digital measuring machine called Proliner. This special digital device measures the space with pinpoint accuracy. It creates a very precise digital template of your countertops. You will be able to see a computer drawing of your countertops as soon as the measurements are made.

Once the measurements are done with the digital measuring machine, the drawings are uploaded to a computer that has a special stone cutting software. A final drawing is created by taking into account all the cutouts for sinks, cooktop etc. into consideration.

The edge profile that was chosen by the customer is added to the program. Then the final drawing is uploaded to the stone cutting machine called Sawjet. This advanced stone cutting machine uses diamond blade for straight cuts and a water jet for cutting all the areas that are not straight.

The stone slab that was marked for this particular project is loaded on to the Sawjet machine.

A skilled technician once again checks for any defects in the slab. Once everything is perfect, the machine goes to work. Our machine cuts the stone slab to the exact dimensions that were measured in your home. It is able to cut any seams with complete precision.

The limitations in the length of granite or any other stone slab creates the need to seam the countertop pieces. For this reason, most larger kitchen countertops have seams. Don’t worry though, our computer aided stone cutting allows us to match the flow in the stone in order to disguise the seams and to make them less noticeable.

Once the granite or quartz countertop pieces have been cut to exact dimensions on the Saw-Jet machine, then they are loaded to one of our CNC router machines for further fabrication. These stone routers make the precise edges like Ogee or Full Bullnose etc. This is where the custom edges and the holes for your sinks and stove areas are created. Once all cuts are made and the edge profiles are fabricated, all the edges are polished. We use our flat edge polisher to create your backsplashes. The flat edge polisher is efficient and perfectly designed for small granite pieces.

Your countertop fabrication is nearing completion, but we make quality control a priority. Our technicians review your countertop. They check every edge and make certain they are smooth and shiny. If we find anything amiss, our skilled stone fabricators will go to work and make sure that your countertop is up to our stringent standards. We look at the profile, and see if there are any chips or defects. We want your countertops to be everything you hoped for. We take pride in our work and it shows in our finished countertops. Once everything is perfected, we deep clean the slab. Once the stone has been thoroughly cleaned of any dust or cutting residue, we seal the countertops (natural stones only and not Quartz countertops) with a 15 year stone sealer. This will keep your new countertops looking their best. After a final quality control review, we get your countertops ready for transportation.

These are the last steps in our countertop fabrication process. We have special trucks that will be able to transport your beautiful countertops safely. Once at your home our skilled installers go to work. We understand that your time is precious. We work with you to find the best time for an installation. Once we arrive to your home, the installation takes about 4 to 6 hours depending on the size and complexity of the project. Since our fabrication process is impeccable, the installation will be flawless.
